Where Women Create Summer 2018

Kathy launched her successful decorative painting business, KB Designs, in 1998 which serves the hospitality and commercial industries, as well as residential. Kathy has served as a marketing  committee member of IDAL, contributor of Miller Dwan ARTCETERA, past committee member of March of Dimes, founder of Duluth Design Center, and member of the Duluth Preservation and Alliance.

In 2004 Kathy created the online message forum, Talk Faux International, when she recognized an industry need to bring decorative painters together in a non-competitive way for networking and friendship.  Kathy followed the success of Talk Faux with the creation of House of Faux, which provides training for professional decorative artists. In 2005, Kathy created Art Fusion, a social networking site specifically for decorative painting artisans which boasted a huge European following and flair, and Artist's Underground was created to provide low cost website design and hosting to artists. In 2009 Faux Retreat was developed, being the first school for decorative finishers that not only provided classes, but more of a networking and family atmosphere, and is priced to include lodging, meals and classes. They are unilaterally among four of the most important networking and knowledge sites for the faux finishing industry.

In 2013 Kathy created ArtFusion Event, which is the most attended industry event for Decorative Painters, Designers and Artists.  This annual event attracts instructors and professionals from around the world, for an event of friendship, sharing and inspiration and creative and educational advancement.

2019 will mark the 10 year anniversary of Faux Retreat and the debut of Re.Vive. Hands on training and restoration of non-profit buildings.
